OUTREACH - ASSISTANCE TO THE MATERIALLY POOR: SPECIAL EVENTS

The Mission hosts several special events each year including block parties, a Thanksgiving party, and a Christmas party.  

THANKSGIVING PARTY

Beginning with a prayer service in the church, our Thanksgiving party provides neighborhood families with a delicious brunch and all of the groceries needed to prepare their own Thanksgiving dinner in their homes. Each year we serve brunch for several hundred people and give away around 800 Thanksgiving dinners, complete with a turkey and all the necessary trimmings. CHRISTMAS PARTIES

Our Christmas celebrations now stretch for several weekends in December. The current Christmas celebrations are:

- 2nd Saturday in December- prayer service, lunch, and family gifts for 300-400 of our neighbors

- 3rd Saturday in December- gift distribution for over 2000 people (over 5000 gifts total).

- We host additional Christmas celebrations for smaller groups of people such as the seniors in our seniors’ program and families in our afterschool program

Many of our neighborhood children would not receive any new gifts for Christmas were it not for our Christmas celebrations and the generosity of so many who partner with us to make it all possible.  Click to see the 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, and 2013 Christmas celebration picture pages.
