Dear Friends,

Christmas Greetings from Chicago!  I hope you had an enjoyable Thanksgiving with family and friends.  We had a wonderful Thanksgiving prayer service and brunch for 530 neighbors on the Saturday before Thanksgiving.  Everyone, including over 200 volunteers, had a great time.  As they left, each family received a turkey and all of the trimmings for a Thanksgiving feast. See pictures from Thanksgiving HERE

We are now busy preparing for Christmas festivities for the neighborhood.   We always look forward to celebrating Jesus’ birth with our friends from the Chicago Opera community who generously put on our annual Christmas concert. Also, we will host various Christmas celebrations with live Nativity scenes, food and gifts, serving 1100+ people.

I would like to give you a brief update on life here at the Mission.  Please use the links throughout the letter to see pictures from our websites, and

Our little community here continues to grow. On September 8, Jessica Lambert was received as a postulant.  She is a recent graduate of the University of Illinois and is making a smooth transition.  Sr. Stephanie professed her first vows on September 21.  The Mass and meal which followed were wonderful.  She is extremely dedicated and a tremendous blessing to the work of the Mission.  On October 4, Sr. Jaime and Br. Matt became novices and received their habits.  It was another great day for them and for our community.  Please continue to pray for more wonderful vocations such as the ones the Lord has been sending our way.

We continue to help over 700 families a month with food, clothing and household goods.  Our retreat and volunteer programs keep us busy with hospitality in the former convent. The youth programs at Kelly Hall have waiting lists.  I am proud that our kids are all at or above grade level.  This is a necessary step to keeping them in school and out of gangs and drugs in a neighborhood that has a 68% High School dropout rate.

To do this necessary work here we need and appreciate your help. If you are able to make a donation to assist us please make out a check to Mission of Our Lady of the Angels and send it to us at 3808 W. Iowa St., Chicago, IL 60651. If you have any questions, please reply to this e-mail.

During this Holy Season be assured of remembrance in Daily prayers and Masses.  If you have any special intentions please contact me.

May God Bless you and your loved ones with a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

With Love and Prayer,
Fr. Bob
