December 2023 - Christmas at the Mission Highlights

Lots of great Christmas events at the Mission!

Christmas pantries 12/12 and 12/19


We distributed grocery carts of Christmas food (including beautiful hams!) plus additional gifts to 1642 families over the last 2 weeks! Thank you for your continued support of the pantry.

Gift Distributions and Parties on 12/16

Merry Christmas, W. Humboldt Park!
On Saturday 12/16, we distributed gifts to over 2000 people here at Mission of Our Lady of the Angels! We've estimated that we will distribute over 7000 individual gifts by Tuesday at 2 pm.

Christmas prayer service and lunch- 12/9

We were blessed to pray with at eat with 250+ of our neighbors at a beautiful Christmas prayer service and lunch! Every family in attendance got to visit the creche, eat a delicious beef roast lunch, visit Santa, and receive a family gift. Check out these highlights:

Culinary Kids - All Star Event for our Seniors


We hosted the 9th annual “Culinary Kids” luncheon for our senior citizens sponsored by Suzanna Mendoza, the Palmer House, and Chefs Stephen Henry & Courtney Barton. We were blessed AGAIN with a visit from Mr. T himself as well as Chicago sports heroes Wendell Davis (Bears) and Mickey Johnson (Bulls).

Thanks additionally to Taft High School choir and Amundsen High School volunteers for their help!

Bishop Bob continues to be the official chaplain of the Chicagoland Toys4Tots parade!

Mobile pantry and Coat/ clothing distribution


We gave away food, clothing and 100s of coats on Saturday 12/2! Thank you to St. Damien and St. George Parishes (Oak Forest), St. Alexander’s (Villa Park), CC’s Wish List, Mary Seat of Wisdom (Park Ridge), Honeycomb Project, and the many others who donated coats!
