Mission of Our Lady of the Angels
Working at the Mobile Food Pantry in February--- .....Baby, it was cold out there!
If you don't believe us, ask St. Francis!
|
But many warm hearts defeated the cold and provided food and hope to area neighbors.
Neighbors lined up to receive the food, but unlike
during the summer, their beautiful little children
stayed home in the warm.
University of Notre Dame Alumni were present in full force, as they are at most of the Mobile Food Pantry Days.
|
As always, volunteers began by unloading the truck.
Then each station prepared to distribute the food.
They sorted the food into individual packages.
Then the distribution began. After they checked
in at the entrance, a volunteer accompanied
each neighbor to the various stations.
Volunteers waited patiently in the freezing cold, but
no one complained. In fact, they were quite cheerful
just to be helping and part of something good.
Anna (12) and her brother Tony (10) from Queen
of the Rosary School were certainly cheerful!
Greg came with his Dad, Mark, from St. Paul of the
Cross, and served even with a broken hand.
Warm coats were also distributed that day.
Helping at the Mission is a great thing to do with friends and people you really care about.
In the month of love, despite the cold and deep snow, many came to the Mission to show their love, not only for their neighbor but for their God.

What a perfect Valentine gift for God!
