Lent 2016

There is so much going on during Lent we wanted to highlight a few of the many things going on each week!

Week of March 21

We had great groups from University of Wisconsin and Marquette University. The groups helped out with everything at the Mission + even met Archbishop Cupich!

Week of March 14

On March 19, we were blessed to have hosted our first ever St. Joseph’s table here at Mission of Our Lady of the Angels. If you are not familiar, the St. Joseph’s table it’s an Italian tradition, specifically Sicilian, as described HERE. We had a beautiful St. Joseph’s altar and an amazing feast! Check out the pictures HERE.

Week of March 7

We had 28 college students with us this week from Ferris State University, Central Michigan University, and Carroll College (Helena, MT). We had a fantastic week with a community dinner, visits to Catholic schools, time with the kids at Kelly Hall, and, of course, some good manual labor!

This week was also the parish mission at Immaculate Conception in Elmhurst - thank you all who made the mission such a great experience for the parish.

Week of Feb. 29

We were blessed to be involved with the making the evening of mercy and forgiveness (our version of the 24 hours for the Lord) possible in our area! The evening was hosted by Resurrection Parish down the street. It was a blessed evening with Adoration, confession, and time for fellowship.

Week of Feb. 22

We were blessed to host a spring break group from Eastern Michigan University this week that helped us with a very large furniture donation from Holiday Inn and an associated furniture give away among many other things!

Week of Feb 15

Three of the sisters led a confirmation retreat for Christ the King and St. Gall’s parishes on the south side this week. There were about 70 middle schoolers who attended the retreat. There were talks on the Eucharist, mercy/ Confession, and prayer as well as a Holy Hour with Confessions. Thanks Christ the King and St. Gall’s for this great opportunity!
